Germany's SPV Out Of Insolvency
October 5, 2012After a rigorous selection process, a joint Hanover-Hamburg investment group with strong music industry ties has secured the acquisition of SPV GmbH and all related brands and labels, as well as its complete catalogue consisting of over 1,600 album titles. This development paves the way forward to the continuation of SPV as a global music business player.
The new owners' concept will incorporate the stabilization of SPV's traditionally rock roots (MOTÖRHEAD, KAMELOT, SODOM, MAGNUM, etc.). A strong emphasis will be placed on real artists and real bands — from singer-songwriters to hip-hop — raising the companiy's profile and developing new income streams within the music and entertainment business.
Additionally, a modern branch of fresh new German rock has already started to bear first fruit. With its first release for SPV, the young successful label Rookies And Kings under the leadship of Stefan Harder, entered the German album charts with the band MONO INC. at an impressive #6. The label's biggest act, namely the South Tyrol rock band FREI.WILD, will release their new album, "Feinde deiner Feinde", through SPV on October 5, which is highly anticipated to top the album chart.
To accomplish the set goals effectively, SPV has also invested in A&R know-how in the form of Wolfgang Funk, whose impressive pass signings (HIM, GUANO APES, BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE, WITHIN TEMPTATION) have won him notoriety within the music business. The 25-year-old Martin Lanzerath, manager of Mimi Westernhagen and Felix Mayer, will be also responsible for more fresh wind at SPV.
Under the managing directorship of Errol Rennalls, the company in the near future will be relocated to the Peppermint Pavilion, ExpoPark Hanover, with its modern facilities and first-class ambiance, including recording studios, event hall, restaurant, office and meeting areas.
